Anchovies Fry / Nethili meen varuval

 
Anchovies Fry or Nethili meen varuval is a best starter/appetizer.It is so simple to prepare and it tastes so good.You can also have it as a side dish for lunch. I have removed the bones and used the fish.I marinated the fish with a nice coating of spicy masala and deep fried it.If you are a Fish lover definitely try this dish.You will love it.Only cleaning the fish will take time.But the procedure is so quick.Today I made this recipe along with Anchovies Gravy / Nethili Thokku for curd rice.
 
Preparation time : 30 mins
Marination time : 10 mins
Cooking time : 10 mins 
Serves : 3 persons


INGREDIENTS REQUIRED 

 
Anchovies / Nethili meen – 30  pieces (I have cleaned and removed the bones.)
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Red chilli powder – 2 tsp
Ginger garlic paste – 2 tsp
Salt to taste
Lemon – 1
Curry leaves – 2 sprig
Corn flour – 1 tbsp
Rice flour – 1 tbsp
Oil – for deep  frying


METHOD

1.Clean the fish and see that there is no water in it.Take a mixing bowl and add cleaned anchovies / Nethili fish to it.Add salt,Ginger garlic paste.
2.Then add corn flour ,rice flour,Turmeric powder,Red chilli powder.
3.Add few drops of oil this allows the fish to get coated nicely with the masala. Finally squeeze the lemon.Mix them well.Allow it to marinate for about 10 mins.
4.To a  frying pan add oil for deep frying the fish.Once the oil gets hot.Add the fishes to it in batches. Don’t overcrowd the fishes.When the fish turns golden brown remove it from the oil.Lastly fry the curry leaves  in the oil and add it to the fried fish.It gives a nice aroma to the dish.Serve it as a starter or side dish for lunch.It goes well with rice and rasam.
