Pirandai Thogayal /Veldt Grape Chutney

Pirandai is a creeper that has wonderful medicinal uses and health benefits. It treats Piles , menstrual problems and indigestion. You can have this chutney with Dosa,Idli,Chapati and Curd Rice.My mom taught me this  recipe.



Cooking time : 15 mins 
Serves : 2 persons


Pirandai roughly chopped (50 g) – 1 cup
Sesame oil-1 tsp
Red chilli – 4 nos
Coriander seeds – 1 tbsp
Grated coconut – 5 tbsp
Turmeric powder – a pinch
Asafoetida – a pinch
Tamarind – a small piece
Curry leaves – a few 


1. To a pan add oil,Once the oil gets hot add coriander seeds,red chilli. Roast them for 1 min till color changes.Then add pirandai and cook for about 2 mins.
2.Then add curry leaves,required amount of salt,turmeric powder,tamarind. Mix well.
3.Then add grated coconut to it ,mix well and put off the flame.
4.Allow the mixture to cool.Add it to blender jar and make a  paste by adding little water. Pirandai chutney is ready.Transfer to a bowl and serve it.
