Poori Kizhangu / Poori masala

Poori kizhangu or poori masala is a perfect combination for Poori. You can also have it with chapati.Whenever I make this dish.I remember my childhood days. Amma usually makes the dish on Sunday along with poori or chapati.I still remember the aroma of the kizhangu she makes.I love the chana dal and ginger added in it.
Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 20 mins
Serves : 2 – 3 persons

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

Potato – 1 
Onion – 1(sliced)
Green chilli – 2(chopped)
Ginger – 1 tbsp(chopped)
Chana dal – 1 tbsp
Urad dal – 1 tsp
Salt – 1 /2 tsp
Tomato – 1/2 ( finely chopped)
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
Oil – 1 tbsp
Asafoetida – a pinch
Coriander leaves – a few
Curry leaves – a sprig

METHOD

1.Boil potatoes and take it.Smash them and keep them aside.

2.To a pan,add oil.Add Mustard seeds when they crackle add chana dal.

3.Add urad dal,onion,green chillies. Saute them well.

4.Add chopped ginger,salt,curry leaves.

5.Add Turmeric powder,chopped tomatoes,Asafoetida.

6.Add about 1/2 cup water,smashed potatoes and mix well.Cook till the water gets reduced.Finally add coriander leaves and Serve it with Pooris
