Capsicum Fry / Kudamilakai Poriyal


I have seen Capsicum first in Tv ‘s only. Long years back they were not available in all markets.The colors and shape attracts me a lot.But now they are available everywhere.My hometown is a village town.Now we can get it even here.May be not the yellow,orange,red ones often but the green ones.Here in oman  I can get all the coloured capsicum in supermarkets.U can find Green capsicum mostly from oman and other colored ones mostly imported from Egypt and Holland.I have a dream of making some baking dishes with capsicum since I don’t have OTG.I have not tried it yet.Hope soon OTG will be in my kitchen and there will be a baking recipe page in my blog.Ok lets come to Capsicum fry.It is a tasty stir fry.I have sauteed capsicum along with some masalas and onion.It goes well with Sambar,Paruppu kuzhambu,Rasam.You can also have it with chapati.

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 15 mins
Serves : 2 persons

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED


Capsicum – 200 gm (finely chopped)
Curry leaves – 2 sprig
Small onions – 6
Onions – 1 (finely sliced)
Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
Urad dal – 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil – 1 tbsp

METHOD

1.To a pan add 1 tbsp oil.Add mustard seeds.Allow them to crackle.Add urad dal let them turn light golden.

2.Add small onions,sliced onions,curry leaves.Saute them well.

3.Let them turn light golden.Add chopped capsicum.Saute them.Allow them to cook.Add salt to your taste.When they are half cooked add Turmeric powder ,Red chilli powder,Cumin powder.Mix them well and let raw smell go off.When the capsicum is fully cooked.Remove from the flame.Serve with Rice or chapati.
