Chicken Liver with Potato

Chicken livers are high in protein although the cholesterol in chicken livers is high they contain different important nutrients.So you can add it occasionally in your diet.I love chicken livers and gizzards .In my hometown we can get fresh chicken.When we buy chicken sometimes we get this along with chicken pieces.We make fry,pepper curry with it.But here I get the packed ones and I am not a big fan of this packed ones.Recently When I went out for shopping I found a chicken liver packet packed on the same day so thought of trying some recipe with it and made this dish.It came out well.It was tasty.Try this recipe if you want to make recipes with chicken liver.

Serves : 4 persons


Chicken Liver – 500g
Onion – 2
Tomato – 1
Grated coconut – 1/3 cup
Potato – 1cup (roughy diced into cubes)
Coriander leaves – few 
Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Green chilli – 3
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder – 2 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
Fennel powder – 1/2 tsp
Ginger garlic paste – 2 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil – 2 tbsp


1.Clean chicken liver and keep aside.In a pan dry roast grated coconut for about 1 minute.Put off the flame.Add turmeric powder,red chilli powder,coriander powder,pepper powder,cumin powder,fennel powder and roast it in the heat itself.

2.Allow it to cool down and add it to blender jar.Grind it into a fine powder without adding water.

3.To a pan add oil.Once the oil gets hot.Add onions and saute till they get light golden.

4.Add ginger garlic paste.Saute till the raw smell goes.Add curry leaves,Potatoes.

5.Add tomatoes and mix well.Close the vessel with lid and allow the potatoes to cook well.

6.When they are half cooked add cleaned chicken liver and mix well.Add required amount of salt,grinded masala powder.

7.Nicely mix them together .add green chillies and close it with lid and allow them to cook for about 10 mins.Stir them at intervals.Finally add coriander leaves.Serve it hot with Rice and Rasam,Roti,Paratha.
