Jeera rice is a mild flavored dish with cumin seeds.This dish is a popular dish in North India.It is so easy to make,unlike a biryani and the ingredients used are simple.It is also one of the popular dish in hotels and restaurants.It goes along with dal and curries.It is the simplest and easiest dish.
Preparation Time : 20 mins
Cooking Time : 15 mins
Serves : 2 persons
Basmati Rice – 1 cup
Ghee – 3 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Bay leaves – 1
Cinnamon – 1 (1 inch stick)
Cardamon – 3
Clove – 3
Salt to taste
1.Clean and soak rice in water for 20 mins then drain water and keep them aside.
2.I cooked it in pressure cooker.To cooker add ghee you can use cooking oil instead.Add bay leaves,cardamon,cinnamon,cloves and saute them till they sizzle.
3.Add cumin seeds and fry them.Add drained basmati rice,salt to your taste and mix them well.
4.Add 1 and 1/2 cup of water.Allow it to boil.When they start boiling.Close the cooker with lid with whistles in it and put the flame simmer and cook for 10 minutes.After 10 minutes put off the flame and Open the lid after the pressure has get released.
