Meen Varuval / Fish Roast

Meen varuval – an awesome spicy dish .It is very tasty and different from the usual  fry.This dish is made with freshly blended  masalas and is shallow fried.Use firm flesh pieces for this dish.Serve this varuval along with Fish curry/Meen Kuzhambu.

Cooking Time : 10 mins

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

Fish pieces – 7
Coriander seeds – 2 tsp
Dried Red Chilli – 7
Fennel seeds – 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste 
Pepper corns – 1/2 tsp
Small onions – 6 to 7
Oil – for frying
Curry leaves – a sprig

METHOD

1.To a pan.Dry roast coriander seeds,cumin seeds,fennel seeds,peppercorns and dried red chilli.

2.To a blender jar add small onions, dry roasted ingredients and blend it into coarse paste without adding water.

3.To a bowl add cleaned fish pieces,blended paste,salt and marinate for about 15 minutes.

4.To a frying pan add oil for shallow frying.I used mustard oil.Add fishes in batches and fry them in simmer flame.When one side of the fish turns golden flip it to the other side and fry it to golden.Remove from the oil.Finally fry curry leaves in the oil and add it to fish.Serve this roast hot with Rice and kuzhambu.
