Prawn masala

Prawn is my favorite all type sea food.This masala style prawn recipe is a spicy,tangy dish made by sauteing prawns with tomato and onions.It goes well with Rice and Rasam,Sambar or Roti.This is so delicious recipe.Try it out.

Preparation Time : 30 mins
Cooking Time : 20 mins
Serves : 2 persons


Prawns – 500 g (cleaned and deveined)

Coconut oil – 2 tbsp
Onion – 1 (finely sliced)
Tomato – 1 (finely chopped)
Ginger garlic paste – 1/2 tbsp
Curry leaves – a sprig
Coriander leaves – a few
Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 1  and 1/2tsp 


1.Heat oil in a pan.Add mustard to it.Let them crackle.Add onions.

2.Saute the onions to translucent.Add curry leaves and ginger garlic paste.saute it till the raw smell goes.Add chopped tomatoes.

3.Add salt,coriander leaves,turmeric powder,chilli powder,coriander powder.Mix well

4.Add little water and cook it till the oil separates out.Now Add cleaned prawns and mix them well with the masala.Prawns will leave water and cook it for 5- 7 mins with Closed lid.Stir it occasionally.Remove the lid.The water should be reduced and prawns should be cooked well.Don’t overcook prawns they will get rubbery.Remove from flame.Serve it hot with Rice or Roti.
