Prawn is my favourite Sea food.I used try a lot of recipe with this prawn.One such recipe is Spicy Prawn fry.Its so spicy,tasty dry recipe.You can also have it as a Starter/Appetizer.Its very easy to cook.Only cleaning of prawns will take time.You can cook this dish so fast.Everyone at my home loved this dish.Buy some prawns for this weekend and cook this simple,tasty spicy prawn fry for your family.
Preparation Time : 30 mins (cleaning prawns,chopping small onions,garlic)
Cooking Time : 15 mins
Serves : 2 persons
Prawns – 500 g(Cleaned and deveined)
Small onions – 1/4 cup (Finely chopped/sliced)
Garlic – 2 tbsp(Finely chopped /sliced)
Ginger – 1 tbsp(finely chopped)
Curry leaves – a few
Lemon juice – 1tbsp
Mustard oil/Coconut oil – 2 to 3 tbsp
Salt to taste
Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder – 2 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
1.Take the cleaned prawns and marinate it with salt,cumin powder,Red chilli powder,Turmeric powder ,a few drops of oil and lemon juice.adding oil makes the prawn gets coated well with the masala.I took large prawns there were about 15 prawns.
2.To a frying pan,add oil.Add garlic,ginger,small onions and saute them.
3.Add curry leaves.Then add the marinated prawns.Mix them well.Close the pan with lid.
4.The prawn leaves water.Close the lid for about 2 to 3 mins in medium flame.Now open the lid and cook for about 3 to 5 minutes so that the water gets reduced and become dry.Don’t cook the prawns for a long time it will get rubbery.
When prawns are cooked they will turn a pink colour.Small – medium sized prawns will take 3 to 4 minutes, large prawns will take 5 to 8 minutes and jumbo prawns will need 7 to 8 minutes.Serve this mouthwatering Spicy prawn fry along with Rice and Rasam.
