Instant chakli with gram flour/Kadalai maavu murukku

An often made snack in my home is Kadalai maavu murukku since it is so simple and can be made with ingredients readily available at home.There are many other versions of murukku/chakli but this one is so easy,tasty and instant.You can get soft,Crunchy murukku.Try this recipe at home and enjoy it with tea.

Makes : 18 murukku /chakli

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

Gram flour – 1/2 cup
Rice flour – 1 cup
Butter – 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Sesame seeds – 1 tsp
Asafoetida – 1/8 tsp
Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
Oil for frying

METHOD

1.Take Gram flour,Rice flour,Salt ,Cumin seeds,Sesame seeds,Asafoetida,Red chilli powder in a plate or bowl for mixing.Melt butter in a pan and then added melted butter to it.Mix all the ingredients well.
2.Add water little by little and knead them nicely into a unsticky dough.I used about 1 cup of water.Take the murukku maker and grease it with oil inside.I used star shaped disc.Put the disc at the bottom.Place a portion of dough in it and make spirals of the chakli.I placed the shaped murukku dough in a plastic sheet and then transferred to the back of ladle.
3.Heat oil for frying in a deep pan.Place it in high flame for 2 – 3 minutes then place in medium low flame.Now Drop the spirals into the hot oil.Fry until they turn golden brown.Remove chakli/murukku from oil when the oil stops bubbling.Store them in air tight container.
