Mutton Soup/Mutton Rasam/South Indian mutton soup

Today I am going to share an easy mutton soup recipe.It is simple,healthy and tasty recipe made with lamb bones cooked with some seasoning.It is also a good remedy for common cold and cough.A best soup for winter days.This is one of my favorite soup.It is so soothing and comforting to throat.You can have it as a refreshing starter before your meal.You can also give this soup to your babies as a clear soup after straining it.They are good for their bones and teeth.I made this soup in pressure cooker.You can also make it in pot.
Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 15 mins
Serves : 3 persons

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

Mutton bones – 1/4 kg
Coriander leaves – 1/3 cup
Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 2 tsp
Tomato – 1
Salt to taste

For making paste

Small onions – 10
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp

For crushing

Peppercorns – 1 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Ginger – small piece
Garlic – 12 pods(i used nattu poondu)

METHOD

1.Clean mutton.Keep ready all the ingredients.Blend small onions along with turmeric powder to a fine smooth paste without adding water.

2.Take mutton bones in pressure cooker along with 3 cups of water.Take peppercorns and cumin seeds in a mortar and crush them.

3.Add this crushed peppercorns cumin to it.Also crush garlic, ginger together and add it into the cooker.

4.Add blended small onion paste,Red chilli powder,coriander powder and coriander leaves to it.

5.Roughly dice tomato and add to it.Add required amount of salt and give it a nice mix.Now place cooker in flame.Close it with lid with whistle on it and cook for 6- 8 whistles till the mutton cooks well.
