Radish stir fry with coconut/Mullangi Poriyal/Mullangi thoran

Wishing you all a happy pongal. Today I am going to share radish stir fry recipe with you.A simple and tasty side dish for Rice and Roti. Radish is sauteed along with onions and masalas and finally grated coconut is added to it.Mostly radishes are used in sambar. Serves : 2 persons

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

Radish – 450 g (peeled and cut into small cubes)
Oil – 3 tsp
Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
Urad dal – 1 tsp
Onion – 1/2(chopped into small pieces)
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Garam masala – 1/4 tsp
Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste

METHOD

1.Keep all the ingredients ready.Heat oil in a kadai.Add mustard seeds,urad dal.Let the urad dal turn golden.Add chopped onions.saute them till they turn translucent.
2.Add chopped radish.Saute them well in oil along with onions.
3.When radish is half cooked.Add turmeric powder,Red chilli powder,Cumin powder,garam masala and required amount of salt.Garam masala is optional.Mix the masalas well with Radish.Cook till radish is cooked well.Finally add grated coconut to it and mix well.
