Fish are a good source of vitamins and minerals. I used to cook fish once or twice a week. Though I love fish curry I usually don’t take fish in it. Fish fry is my favorite dish. So I usually try out different masala combinations with fish and fry it out. And one such trial is this Sheela meen(Barracuda fish)Fry and come out really tasty and juicy. In our area, we used to call this fish as mavala/mavula. It is called as sheelavu in Malayalam. Try this fish fry recipe. Serve it hot. You can try this fried recipe with all kind of fishes

Preparation Time: 5 mins
Marination Time: 20 mins
Cooking Time: 20 mins
Barracuda fish/ Sheela meen /Sheelavu- 8 pieces
Coconut oil for frying
Gram flour – 2 tsp
Rice flour – 2 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder – 2 tsp
Ginger garlic paste – 1 and 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste Lemon juice – 1tbsp
1.Clean and take fish pieces. To a mixing bowl add all the ingredients for marination and mix them together by adding little water into a fine smooth paste. Marinate the fish pieces with the masala paste and leave it to marinate for about 20 mins.
2.Heat coconut oil in a pan for frying. Add fish pieces to it in batches and fry them in medium flame. when one side turns golden crisp then flip to the other side and fry till golden. Then remove from oil.
Serve it hot with Rice along with Fish Curry.
