Spicy Lady’s finger stir fry/Vendakkai poriyal

Lady’s finger has high fiber content.It prevents diabetes.It has more health benefits.This is one of my favorite dish which I make quite often as it is simple to make and tasty.Mom also used to make this dish often for our lunch box.It tastes great with Rice and sambar/dal/Puli kuzhambu.I also make other versions of lady’s finger stir fry and I will post them later.Hope you will try this simple recipe.
Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 25 mins
Serves : 2 persons


Lady’s finger – 25 (cut into round slices)
Oil – 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Red chilli powder – 1 and 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste


Wash lady’s finger before chopping and pat it dry with towel or tissue paper.
1.To a pan add oil.Temper it with mustard seeds.After they crackle add chopped onion.Fry them to golden brown in oil.
2.Then add chopped lady’s finger pieces and fry them well in oil.This will remove the sliminess in it.
3.Add Red chilli powder,required amount of salt and mix well with the lady’s finger.Cook till the raw smell of masalas goes and lady’s finger are fried and cooked well.Serve it with Rice and Sambar or puli kuzhambu.It tastes amazing.
