Mushroom spring onion masala/Kalan vengaya thal masala

Mushroom spring onion masala is a spicy and tangy gravy that goes well with Rice,Pulao,Chapati,Roti,Nan ……It’s really tasty and try it out.You will definitely love it.Here is how I made it.
Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 25 mins
Serves : 2 persons


Mushroom – 250g(chopped into small pieces)
Spring Onion – 1/2 cup(chopped into small pieces)
Onion – 2(finely chopped)
Salt to taste
Butter – 1 tbsp
Tomato – 1(finely chopped)
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Fennel powder – 1/4 tsp
Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder – 2 tsp
Cinnamon stick – 2(1″ piece)
Cardamon – 3
Cloves – 3
Bay leaves – 2
Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
Curd – 100g


1.To a pan add butter.After they get melt add bay leaves,cinnamon stick,cardamon,cloves.Let them sizzle.Then add chopped onions to it and saute them till they turn golden.
2.Add ginger garlic paste and saute them well.When the raw smell is gone add chopped tomatoes and cook till they turn mushy.
3.Then add Turmeric powder,fennel powder,cumin powder,coriander powder and red chilli powder and mix them well.Add required amount of salt and curd.
4.Add chopped spring onions and mushroom.Close the pan with a lid and cook.Mushroom leaves water.Cook till the water gets reduced.Transfer it to a serving bowl.Serve it hot with Rice or Roti.
