Today I have come with a tasty and healthy snack for your tea time.This vada recipe is a no onion version.You can make this vada without much hard preparation.Just soaking,grinding of dal and chopping of banana florets is required.At my home we used to make with onion version of this vada which I will post later.Recently I got this recipe from a Magazine.Just want to try out that recipe and I adapted it to our taste.It was easy,simple and tasty.Try out this healthy snack.Even kids will love it.You can serve them this vada with Tomato ketchup.

Preparation Time : 40 mins
Cooking Time : 20 mins
Serves : 3 to 4
Banana Blossoms – 1 cup(finely chopped)
Toor dal – 1/2 cup
Chana dal – 1/4 cup
Urad dal – 1 tbsp
Fennel seeds – 1 tsp
Dried Red chilli – 5
Garlic – 4
Ginger – 1 inch piece
Coriander leaves – a fistful
Curry leaves – a fistful
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
1.Clean Banana Blossom/Vazhapoo. Finely chop them and soak them in buttermilk.It will help to remove the bitterness in it.Click here to see how to clean Banana blossom.To a pan add about 2 tsp of oil and fry the chopped banana blossom /Vazhapoo till they get cooked.then remove them from flame and keep them aside.
2.Soak Toor dal,Chana dal,Urad dal and Dried Red chilli in water for about 30 minutes.Then drain the water and add the soaked ingredients to a grinding jar along with garlic,ginger and fennel seeds.Grind them coarsely without adding water.Transfer them into a mixing bowl.
3.To the mixing bowl add finely chopped coriander leaves,curry leaves and required amount of salt.Add fried banana blossom and mix them all together well.
4.Heat oil for frying.Shape out vadas and drop them into the oil.Fry them in medium flame till they turn golden and crisp outside.
Have this hot and crispy Vazhapoo vadas with a Cup of Tea.
