Chinese potato which is also known as Koorka in Malayalam and Cheru/Siru Kizhangu in Tamil.You can check out the recipe for Cheru Kizhangu Thoran /Poriyal which is a Tamilnadu style coconut based stir fry made with Chinese potato which I have posted earlier.This Koorka Mezhukkupuratti is a Kerala style stir fry made with little ingredients and it tastes so yummy.This recipe was shared by my neighbor. It was so tasty.I made it along with Sambar for lunch.It will go well with all kuzhambu varieties.It also combines well with Curd rice,Lemon Rice.Lets see how to make it.
Preparation Time : 20 mins
Cooking Time : 20 mins
Serves : 3 Persons
Salt to taste
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Coconut oil – 1 to 2 tbsp
Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
Garlic – 2 pods
Crushed Dried Red chilli – 1 tbsp
1.Peel the skins of Chinese potato.Cut them into slices.
2.Add this slices to a pot along with sufficient amount of water,salt and Turmeric powder.Cook till they get soft.Drain excess water and keep them aside.
3.In a mortar crush small onions,garlic,crushed dried Red chilli.
4.Heat oil in a pan.Add mustard seeds let them crackle.Then add the crushed masala paste.Fry them well in the oil.Add Curry leaves.Add cooked chinese potatoes.Mix them well with the masala.
5.Cook for few more minutes so that the Chinese potatoes cooked well with masala and get fried.
Serve it hot with Rice.
