Paneer Biryani in Pressure cooker-பனீர் பிரியாணி-Easy Paneer Biryani

Today I made Paneer Biryani along with Cucumber Raita for Lunch.From my Post you may know that I am a lover of Biryani.I love trying different biryani with different ingredients.One such successful experiment is Paneer biryani. It is rich in taste.It is so simple to cook and easy to make one pot meal.One thing I love about Paneer Biryani is the Soft Spiced Paneer cubes with the well cooked Basmati rice.It tastes heavenly.With no further delay lets get into the recipe.

Serves : 3 Persons


Ghee – 2 tbsp
Onion – 2 medium sized (finely sliced)
Rock salt to taste
Ginger garlic paste – 2 tsp
Green chillies – 2
Mint leaves – a handful
Coriander leaves – a handful
Tomato – 1 medium sized (finely chopped)
Curd – 3 tbsp(less sour one)
Red chilli powder – 1 and 1/2 tsp 
Coriander powder – 3 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Fennel powder – 1/2 tsp
Paneer cubes – 200 g
Basmati Rice – 1 and 1/2 cup
Milk – 1 cup
Water – 1 and 1/4 cup 

Whole Spices and Dry Fruits

Cinnamon – 1
Cloves – 4
Cardamon – 3
Mace(Javitri/Jathipathri)- 1
Star anise(annachi poo) – 1
Pandan leaves (rampe) – a few
Bay leaves – 2
Cashew nuts – 8
Raisins – 15


1.Wash and Soak Rice in water for 30 minutes.Then Drain the water and Keep them ready.
2.Heat ghee in a pressure cooker and then fry all the Whole spices ,Cashew nuts and Raisins.
3.Add onions and Saute them well.When they turn translucent add little rock salt/salt.Fry the onions till they become golden brown.Then add ginger garlic paste.Saute till the raw smell goes.
4.Add green chillies,Coriander leaves and Mint leaves.Save few coriander and mint leaves for later.Then add curd to it and mix well.Add tomatoes.
5.Saute the tomatoes till they turn mushy.Then add Turmeric powder,Red chilli powder,coriander powder,Mix them together.Add about 1 tbsp of water so that the masalas will not get burnt.Add the paneer cubes to it.
6.Mix the paneer cubes well with the masala. Add soaked and drained Basmati rice and give them a nice mix.Add milk and water.For 1 cup of rice add 1 and 1/2 cup Diluted Milk.Place the flame in high and bring to boil.When it comes to nice boil.Add the left mint and coriander leaves.Close the cooker with lid and allow it to cook for 10 minutes in low flame.Open the lid after the pressure is fully released by itself.
Serve Paneer Biryani with Raita.
