Vazhakkai Podimas is a simple,tasty and healthy recipe made with cooked and mashed raw bananas.We can make a variety of dishes with it.You can try this recipe for a change from usual Poriyal or fry.Its so quick to make and tasty.It goes well with Rice,Sambar,Dal or any Kuzhambu varieties.The flavor of ginger makes the dish aromatic and yummy.Looking for other Raw banana recipes.Check out my other recipes
Raw banana – 4
Oil – 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
Urad dal – 1 tsp
Green chilli – 2
Dried red chilli – 2
Ginger – 1 inch piece
Curry leaves – a few
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida – a pinch
Salt to taste
1.Chop both the tips of banana.add them to a pressure cooker along with water.Cover and Cook them for 3 whistles.Remove the cooked raw bananas from water.Peel off the skin and mash them well.
2.Chop ginger and green chilli into small pieces.Tear Dried red chilli into pieces.To a deep pan or kadai add oil.Heat them up.When they are hot.Add mustard seeds,urad dal.Then add ginger,green chilli,dried red chilli and curry leaves.Saute them well in oil.
Add mashed bananas.Saute them well.Add Required amount of salt,Asafoetida,Red chilli powder and Turmeric powder.Mix well with the banana.and Cook them for few more minutes.
Tasty and Yummy Raw banana Podimas is ready.
