Bhindi(Lady’s finger) masala – How to make simple lady’s finger masala/Bhindi masala-பிண்டி மசாலா

Another successful dish out of trial from my kitchen. It was so tasty than I thought and it went well with Rice and dal. My husband and I loved the dish. To my surprise, my daughter also loved it a lot. Let’s see how to make this simple masala.

Preparation Time :10 mins
Cooking Time : 35 mins
Serves : 2 persons


Lady’s finger – 150g
Oil – 1 tbsp
Onion – 2(medium sized,chopped)
Tomato – 1(medium sized,chopped)
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder – 1 and 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Cumin powder – 1 tsp
Garam Masala – 1/4 tsp
Curd – 1/4 cup


1. Wash the lady’s finger nicely and pat dry them well. Cut them into 3/4 inch pieces.
2. Heat oil in a pan, add the chopped lady’s finger and fry them well till the cooked and the sliminess has gone. Then remove them from oil and transfer it to a plate.
3. To the same pan add little oil if required. add cumin seeds. Then add chopped onions. Saute them well in oil. Sprinkle some salt. Then add chopped tomatoes. Cover and cook till they get mushy and raw smell goes. Add little water if required for it to cook.

4. Add Turmeric powder, Red chilli powder, Coriander powder, Cumin powder. Mix well. Now add Curd to it. Mix well and cook till the oil begins to separate. Now add fried lady’s finger. Give them a nice mix. Finally, add garam masala to it. Cook for few more minutes and then remove from flame.

Serve with Rice or Roti.
