What I cooked for Lunch? – Easy Ghee Rice Recipe – Bachelor’s ghee Rice

Today I cooked something simple yet the final outcome was so tasty altogether and the meal was a combo of rich and easy veg recipes. I made easy ghee rice along with potato gravy and onion raita. If you are a non-vegetarian lover you can replace the potato gravy with some non-vegetarian gravies. This ghee rice is made with pre-cooked rice. You can also use leftover rice for it. This ghee rice is a fatafat recipe. For the onion raita, I just added sliced onions, thick Curd and chat masala. Click here for more Raita recipes.

Cooking Time: 20 mins
Serves: 2 Persons


Rice- 1 cup
I used ponni parboiled rice-the regular rice I use for cooking.
Ghee – 3 tbsp
Cinnamon – 1
Cardamon – 3
Cloves – 3
Maze – 1
Star anise – 1
Pandan leaves – a few (optional)
Green chillies – 2
Mint leaves – a handful
Coriander leaves – a handful
Salt to taste
Garam masala as required


1.Cook the rice in sufficient water. When it is fully cooked strain the water and keep the rice ready. To a heavy bottomed pot/pan add ghee. Then add Cinnamon, cardamon, cloves, maze and star anise. Let them sizzle. Then add green chillies and Pandan leaves. Pandan leaves give a nice aroma to the dish. Then add mint and coriander leaves. Saute them well.
2. Place the flame in low. Now add the cooked rice little by little and mix well. Add salt as required and mix well. Finally, drizzle some ghee over it and sprinkle some garam masala over it. Add few Coriander and mint leaves on it. Seal the pot with aluminium foil and cover and allow it to cook in low flame for 5 mins. Then switch off the flame. Open the foil after 10 mins. Give a mix and serve.

Easy ghee rice is ready to be served.
