CHILLI MUSHROOM (GRAVY) – சில்லி மஸ்ரூம்

There was a packet of mushroom lying in my fridge. This time thought of making an Indo Chinese recipe with it. So I cooked chilli mushroom along with veg fried rice. This gravy along with Fried rice made my lunch special. Let’s see how to make this gravy.

Cooking Time : 30 mins

Serves : 3 Persons

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

  • Oil – 2 tbsp

For marination

  • Mushroom – 200g (sliced)
  • All purpose flour/Maida – 3 tbsp
  • Corn flour – 2 tbsp
  • Kashmiri Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water – 2 tbsp

For Gravy

  • Garlic – 4 pods (chopped)
  • Ginger – 1 inch (chopped)
  • Onion – 1 (medium sized,chopped)
  • Green chillies – 3 (slit into half)
  • Capsicum – 1 (thinly sliced)
  • Spring onions – 1/4 cup
  • Soy sauce – 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli sauce – 2 to 3 tbsp
  • Salt
  • Water – 1/2 cup
  • Cornflour – 1.5 tbsp
  • Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp

METHOD

  1. Wash the mushrooms in water and pat dry them.then slice them into pieces.

2. To a mixing bowl add All purpose flour, Cornflour, Red chilli powder, Pepper powder and salt. Mix them all together. Add the sliced mushrooms to it.Sprinkle water little by little to it and marinate the mushrooms well. Add oil to a kadai and fry them well. You can deep fry or shallow fry them. I have shallow fried them.After frying the mushrooms transfer them to a plate.

3. In the same kadai, Heat the remaining oil. Add Chopped garlic and ginger. Saute them. Then add chopped onions. Saute the onions until they turn translucent. Add slit green chillies. Then add sliced capsicum. Saute them for about 3 minutes. Add chopped spring onions.

4. To it add soy sauce, Red chilli sauce, salt and mix well. Add 1/2 cup of water. Bring it to boil. Mix 1.5 tbsp of corn flour in 1 tbsp of water. Add this cornflour slurry to it.The gravy will start to thicken. Add the fried mushrooms. Give them a nice mix. Add pepper powder and switch off the flame. Finally garnish with some spring onions.

Serve with Fried Rice or Fried noodles.
