My mom used to prepare this stir fry along with vatha kuzhambu, Sambar… This stir fry will pair well with Dal Rice, Sambar or Rasam and also with variety rice. Let’s get into the recipe.

Preparation Time : 10 mins

Cooking Time : 30 mins

Serves : 3 – 4

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

  • Raw banana – 450 g(3 nos)
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves – 1 sprig
  • Grated Coconut – 2 tbsp

For making spice powder

  • Coriander seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Chana dal – 1. 5 tbsp
  • Dried Red chilli – 6 to 8

METHOD

1.In a pan, Dry Roast Coriander seeds, Chana dal and dried red chillies for about 2 mins in low flame.

2. Peel off the skin of banana and cut them into cubes. Add them to a bowl of water to avoid color change. Add this chopped banana to a pan. To it add 1/2 tsp of salt and Turmeric powder. Add about 1/2 cup of water to it and cook them till they get soft and firm. They should not get mushy.

3. Heat oil in a kadai. I used coconut oil. Add Mustard seeds and curry leaves. Let them splutter. Then add the cooked banana to it. Saute them well in the oil for few minutes. Add the ground spice powder to it.Mix well.check for salt and add as required. Cook the banana for about 2 – 3 minutes until the banana get Roasted well. Add few drops of oil if required. Finally Add grated coconut and saute for a minute. Remove from flame. Serve hot with Rice.
