Crispy Fried Raw Banana – Vazhakkai Fry – வாழைக்காய் ஃப்ரை

Raw banana when marinated with spices and fried it gives a Crispy yummy texture. It goes well with Rice and any curry. You can also have it as a snack or starter. I made it yesterday for lunch along with Rice and white pumpkin Moru curry.

Let’s see how to make this simple recipe

Preparation Time: 10 mins

Cooking Time: 20 mins

Serves: 2-3

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

Raw banana/Vazhakkai – 3

Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp

Red chilli powder – 1 tbsp(adjust to your spice level)

Coriander powder – 1 tsp

Garam masala – 1 tsp

Rice flour – 1 tbsp

Oil for frying

METHOD

1.Trim both the ends of the Raw banana. Peel off the skin and cut them into thin slices. Put them in a bowl of water.

2. Drain the water from the banana slices and transfer them into a mixing bowl. Add Turmeric powder, red chilli powder, Coriander powder, salt, garam masala, rice flour and drizzle some oil into it. Mix well with the hands.

3.Heat oil in a pan for frying. Place in medium flame. When the oil is hot. Drop the marinated slices into the oil. Fry them to a golden crisp. Remove them from the oil. Fry the rest of the slices in batches. Finally, fry some curry leaves and add it to the fried plantains.

Serve hot with Rice or as a snack.
