Khatti Dal was waiting in my list for a long time to be posted on the blog. In recent days I have became a fan of this khatti dal. It is so simple to cook and tastes awesome with Rice. I first came to know about this Khatti dal from a Hyderabadi restaurant here. One day We went there for having our favorite Mutton tahari. But unfortunately, as it got over. We were supposed to order other dishes. So we decided to order some Basmati rice along with Dum ka mutton. And after sometimes the waiter came with the ordered dishes along with that he also bought some Khatti dal and insisted us to have the rice along with it. When I had Katti dal along with Rice and dum ka mutton. It tasted similar to a dish called Paruppu Kathrikai(dal with Brinjal) which is usually prepared at our place in Muslim families to serve along with ghee rice in functions and even at home. The taste of it used to be sour. So both the dal recipe had similar taste and I felt like having food at home. From then I became a fan of it. Again whenever we go to that restaraunt we used to try it. I have also tried the recipe at home many times and each time it was so tasty. It goes well with Rice and any spicy non veg gravies or kebab.
Now I prefer this dal recipe over others because of the lovely sour taste in it. Try this recipe and you will love it.
