Home made Ghee – How to make Ghee with Butter

Let me begin this year with a simple to make recipe which will also make you save some money.

Home made is always special. Ghee is condiment mostly used in Indian cuisine. I have seen mom making ghee from scratch. It used to smell aromatic and taste so good.

I started making ghee at home as I use them a lot in my cooking so It helped me save money. I used to buy butter from the store and they are cheap compared to the price of ghee and also the yield is more.

Let’s see how to make it.

Cooking Time: 25 mins


Unsalted butter – 450g


Take unsalted butter in a heavy-bottomed pan. Allow it to melt in low flame. Stir it well now and then until the butter melts completely.

After it melts down. Allow it to boil. Froth will begin to appear at the top. After some times the froth will begin to reduce and after sometimes the foam will disappear, the colour of it will turn to golden and the residue will begin to settle down.

Now the ghee is ready. Switch off the flame. Take a sieve. Line it with a white cloth. Strain it and store it in an air tight container.

Home made Ghee is ready.
