Masala Makhana(Fox nut/Puffed lotus seed) – Phool Makhana snack

Makhana or fox nut or puffed lotus seeds have several nutritional values. They are readily available in super markets. They have a chewy texture. When the nuts are roasted they became Crunchy. Adding the prepared masala to it, makes it a perfect munchie. It is a healthy snack that can be prepared in no time and will definitely make you addictive to it.

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

Makhana /Puffed lotus seed /Fox nut – 100g

Ghee or oil – 4 tsp(I used groundnut oil)

Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Kashmiri Red chilli powder – 1 tsp

Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp

Black salt – 1/2 tsp(adjust as per taste) or use powdered salt as per taste

Amchur powder – 1/2 to 1 tsp

METHOD

  1. Take Turmeric powder, Kashmiri Red chilli powder, pepper powder, black salt and amchur powder in a bowl. Mix them well together.

2.Heat oil in a pan. Add Makhana to it and roast them in low flame for about 10 mins. Check whether the Makhana has become Crunchy. It will break easily if u break it. Then switch off the flame. Drizzle some oil and Sprinkle the prepared masala to it. Mix well so that the Makhana gets coated well with the masala. Allow it to cool down. Then transfer it to an air tight container.

Phool Makhana snack is ready to be served.
