Kothamalli ilai Thogayal – Coriander leaves Chutney

Coriander leaves thogayal is a yummy accompaniment for Rice and curry-like Mutton curry, chicken curry, egg curry or korma and also with Curd rice, Idli and Dosa. At home, we usually make this thogayal or Chutney. It is so good to add this herb to our meal often as it is so healthy. Similarly the coriander seeds thogayal/ Chutney also tastes well with this combos. I have posted it a long time back.

Let’s see how to make this Chutney or thogayal.

Preparation Time:10 mins

Cooking Time: 5 mins

Serves: 2 – 3

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

Oil – 1 tbsp

Urad dal – 2 tsp

Green chillies – 4

Garlic – 4 pods

Coriander leaves – a bunch

Grated coconut – 1/2 cup

Tamarind – a small piece

Salt to taste

METHOD

1.Heat oil in a pan. To it add Urad dal. Fry them to golden. Add garlic pods, Coriander leaves. Saute the coriander leaves. It will begin to shrink. Then add tamarind and Grated coconut to it.

2. Fry the coconut to light golden. Then switch off the flame. Allow it to cool down. Then transfer it to a jar, add salt as required and grind them finely adding little water.

Serve with Rice and mutton curry, curd Rice, Idli or Dosa.
