Tamatar ki chutney(Hyderabadi style) – Tomato chutney

This tomato chutney recipe was shared by my friend. And it is quite different from the tomato chutney which I make. At home, we love the taste of this Chutney and it pairs well with Roti, Rice or Khichdi. I love to have it simply like that because of its taste. you can store it refrigerator and use it for a week.

Preparation Time: 15 mins

Cooking Time: 20 mins

Serves : 3 to 4

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

Oil – 1/4 cup

Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp

Cumin seeds – 1 tsp

Black seeds – 1 tsp

Curry leaves – 2 sprigs

Garlic – 7 pods(chopped)

Green chillies – 5

Dried Red chillies – 6

Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp

Tomato – 4 (medium-sized)

Tamarind – a small piece

Salt to taste

Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp to 1 tsp (adjust as per taste)

METHOD

1.Heat oil in a pan. Add Mustard seeds, Cumin seeds, black seeds, Curry leaves, chopped garlic, green chilli pieces, dried red chilli pieces and ginger garlic paste. Saute well until the raw smell goes.

2. Add tomatoes. Saute tomatoes well so that the raw smell of it leaves and gets mushy. Then add the tamarind piece. Add salt as required, Turmeric powder and red chilli powder. Mix well. Cover and cook in low flame until the tomatoes is Mashed well and oil separates and floats.

Serve with Rice, khichdi or Roti.
