Paneer masala – Restaurant style paneer masala

This restaurant-style paneer masala is a great sidedish for Pulao, roti or chapati and also with rice and dal it tastes so good. This is our family favourite and we like to have it mostly with sweet corn pulao or naan.

Let’s see how to make it.

Preparation Time : 10 mins

Cooking Time : 45 mins

Serves : 3

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

Onion – 2(big size)

Tomato – 3 ( medium size)

Oil – 3 tbsp

Salt to taste

Ginger garlic paste – 1/2 tbsp

Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp

Red chilli powder – 1/2 tbsp

Coriander powder – 1 tsp

Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp

Garam masala – 1/2 tsp

Sugar – 1 tsp

Coriander leaves – 1/8 cup (finely chopped)

Paneer cubes – 300g

Kasuri methi – 1 tbsp

METHOD

1.Soak the frozen paneer in hot water for about 10 mins. Then remove it from the water and keep it aside.

2.Roughly slice the onions and tomatoes.Grind the onions into a smooth paste.Heat oil in a pan.Add the ground onion paste to it.

3.Also grind the tomatoes and add it to the pan.

4. Mix them both well. Cook in medium flame until the oil begins to separate at the top and the raw smell goes off. It took me about 15 mins. Then add salt, ginger garlic paste. Cook until the raw smell of it leaves. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and garam masala. Mix well.

5. Add sugar this balances out the flavour. Add coriander leaves. Cover and cook in medium flame for 5 minutes. Then add the paneer to it. Crush dried methi leaves with hands and add to it. Again cover and cook in low flame for about 6 to 7 minutes. Then switch off the flame.

Serve hot with Roti, chapathi or pulao.
