Egg Masala – Muttai masala

An egg is one item that always comes handy. It may be a breakfast, Lunch or even Dinner. At times when I decide to make my lunch simple and quick, I go for Eggs definitely they are a lifesaver. There are a number of ways we can cook the Egg and the best part is that the dishes made of it goes with rice, Ghee rice, Chappathi, roti…So this time I cooked eggs in a gravy of fried onion, curd and spice powders. I cooked it along with ghee rice. It was a good combo.Try it.

Serves : 3

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

Onion – 3

Oil – 1/4 cup

cinnamon – 1

Cardamom – 3

Cloves – 3

Tomato – 1 ( medium size, chopped)

ginger garlic paste – 1/2 tbsp

Curd – 3 tbsp( not a sour one )

Tumeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Kashmiri red chilli powder – 1 tbsp

Coriander powder – 1 tsp

Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp

Boiled eggs – 4

Salt to taste

coriander leaves – a few

Curry leaves – a few

METHOD

1.Thinly Slice the onions.Make each sliced pieces into separate ones with hands.Heat oil in a pan or kadai.Add the sliced onions to it,fry them to golden brown and remove them from the oil.

2.Take the fried onions in a bowl or plate , to it add curd, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and cumin powder.Mix them well with the hands.

3.In the same pan, to the remaining oil add cinnamon, cardamom and cloves.let it splutter.Add the chopped tomatoes, saute until it get mushy, then add ginger garlic paste.Saute till the raw smell leaves.Then add the prepared onion masala and mix well.Cook until the begins to separate.

4.Add salt as required and add 1/2 cup of water.Mix well.Make a cross cut in the eggs and add them into the masala.Cover and cook in low flame for 3 minutes.Finally add coriander leaves and curry leaves.

Egg masala is ready.

Serve with Rice, pulao , ghee rice, chapathi or roti.
