Poori is a very famous Indian dish.It can be made with the dough made using Wheat flour/Maida and deep fried in oil.Potato masala is the perfect combination of Poori. I love Pooris a lot.During my pregnancy the only food, I was craving for was Poori with sambar and chutney.I want it daily for my breakfast. My sister used to make it for me daily.
Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking time : 30 mins
Makes about 16 pooris
INGREDIENTS REQUIRED
Wheat flour – 1 cup
Rava/sooji/Semolina – 2 tbsp
Salt – 1/2 tsp
Oil for deep frying and 1 tsp of oil for kneading dough
Water as required
METHOD
1.To a large bowl take the wheat flour. To it add salt,Rava and mix well.Adding rava improves the taste of poori.
2.Add a tsp of oil.Knead the dough by adding water little by little until a soft dough is obtained.Cover the dough a lid and allow it to rest for about 10 – 15 mins.
3.Grease your hands with little oil and knead the dough again.Make balls of small lemon size with the dough.Roll out each balls into small circles neither too thin nor thick.
4.Heat oil in a Deep Frying pan. When the oil is sufficiently hot, drop one poori at a time and fry it gently with a frying spoon. When it puffs up and turns golden brown ,flip it to the other side and fry it to golden brown.Take the poori and Drain out the oil from the poori. Place it on a tissue paper.Similarly fry all the pooris. Adjust the flame accordingly else the pooris may burn out. Don’t fry poori in a very hot oil. Serve it with poori masala or any vegetable curry.
