
Snake gourd Thoran is a simple stirfry made along with coconut. It goes well with Rice and chapati. While cooking Snakegourd ensure to taste it before cooking because sometimes it may taste bitter and may spoil the whole dish. It has happened to me. So be precautious.

Serves: 2 – 3
INGREDIENTS REQUIRED
Oil – 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves – a sprig
Pudalangai /Snakegourd – 1
Salt as per taste
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
For Grinding
Shallots – 6 nos
Green chillies – 3
Grated Coconut – 3/4 cup
Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
METHOD
1.Peel the skin of Snakegourd, deseed them and cut into small pieces.

2. In a Grinding jar take shallots, green chillies, grated coconut, Cumin seeds and pulse or whip them twice. Take the Snake gourd pieces in a plate or bowl. To it add the ground ingredients, Turmeric powder and mix well.

3.Heat oil in a pan. Add Mustard seeds when the oil is hot. Let them splutter. Add curry leaves and the mixture prepared, add salt as per taste and saute them for a minute. Then cover it with a lid and cook on low flame for 10 minutes or until the Snakegourd gets cooked. Stir them occasionally in between.

Serve with rice or chapathi.
