Hi all. Hope you are all doing well. As we shifted to a new apartment. I was not active in my blog. Sorry about it. It has been 2 weeks since we moved here. Finally getting myself fit her. Almost made the empty apartment into our home and am so happy about my new kitchen. Still, I have not started making recipes for the blog. Hope to start it soon and you will see my recipes being cooked from here. This recipe I made it like two weeks back when I was doing my packing. I just made this side dish as my friend cooked rice, dal and pappads for me at her home. This dondakaya vepudu goes well with Rice and dal or Sambar or Rasam and chapati.
It is an Andhra recipe. I got this recipe from aval vikatan supplementary. We everyone at home love this type stuffed dry recipe. Definitely it will be an easy and tasty recipe too.
Also, try the other Ivy gourd/ Tindora recipe.
Let’s see how to make this recipe.

Preparation Time:15 mins
Cooking Time: 25 mins
Serves: 3
INGREDIENTS REQUIRED
Oil – 4 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
Onion – 1(medium-sized, finely chopped)
Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
Dondakaya/Tindora/Kovakkai – 150g
Salt as required
For Roasting and Grinding
Coriander seeds – 1 tbsp
Sesame seeds – 1 tbsp
Urad dal – 1/2 tbsp
Peanuts – 2 tbsp
Dried red chilli – 6 to 7 ( you can reduce or increase as per your spice level)
Salt as required
METHOD
1.Dry Roast the ingredients in low flame until the Sesame seeds turn light golden for about 10 mins. Then remove them from flame and allow it to cool down. Transfer it into a Grinding jar, also add salt to it and grind them finely.

2. Wash Ivy gourd/Kovakkai in water. Trim the ends and make a cross cut in it till halfway. So that they remain intact. Then stuff the ground masala into it and keep them aside

3. Heat oil in a pan. Add Mustard seeds. Let them splutter. Then add Cumin seeds, chopped onions, curry leaves to it. Add little salt as we have already added salt to the masala. Saute them well until the onions turn light golden. Add the stuffed Ivy gourd into it. Also, add the remaining ground masala to it. Saute them and allow it to cook in low flame for about 15 mins until it is fried well.

Serve hot with rice and dal or Sambar or Rasam, chapati, Roti.
