
Rava will be mostly available at everyone’s pantry. You can make a variety of dishes out of it from savoury to sweet. You can make a variety of breakfast recipes out of it. One such instant breakfast recipes are this kuzhi paniyaram. You can use roasted or unroasted rava. I have tried the recipe with both types and this paniyaram came out well in both. I have added grated carrot and it’s optional. Serve this paniyaram hot with chutney. This can also be served as a snack with tea or coffee.

Let’s see how to cook rava paniyaram.

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED
Rava – 1 cup
salt to taste
water
Oil – 1.5 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Peppercorns – 1 tsp
urad dal – 1 tsp
chana dal – 1 tbsp
Chopped ginger – 1 tbsp
Onion – 1 (chopped)
carrot – 1 (ggrated)
green chillies – 3(chopped)
curry leaves – 1 sprig(chopped)
Chopped Coriander leaves – 1/8 cup
Ghee
METHOD
1.Take have/semolina in a mixing bowl. Add a little salt and one cup of water. Mix well and keep it aside. Keep all the ingredients ready.

2. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds. let it splutter. Then add cumin seeds, peppercorns, urad dal, chana dal, chopped ginger, chopped onions and a little salt. Saute well until the onions turn translucent.

3.Add the grated carrot, chopped green chillies, chopped curry leaves, chopped coriander leaves. Allow it to cook for 2 minutes and switch off the flame.Add this into the soaked rava. Mix well. Add water as required. It should have idli batter consistency.Check for salt and add if required.

4.Take appe pan/ paniyaram pan. Add little ghee/oil in each hole. Then pour the prepared batter into it. cover and cook until it turns crispy then flip it into the other side and cook until it turns crispy. Then remove it from the pan. Similarily make paniyarams with the remaining batter.

Serve hot with Chutney.
