Chicken masala

My friend shared this recipe with me. It is so easy to cook. It goes well with Rice and dal, pulao, Ghee rice, Roti, Naan, appam or chapati.

Serves : 4

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

Oil – 1/4 cup

Onion – 3 (small size, thinly sliced)

Cashews – 6

Kashmiri Red chilli powder – 2 tsp

Yoghurt – 1 cup

Salt to taste

Chat masala – 1 tsp

Garam masala powder – 1 tsp

For marination

Chicken – 500g

Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp

Red chilli powder – 2 tsp

Ginger garlic paste – 1 to 1.5 tbsp

Salt – 1 tsp

METHOD

1.Clean the chicken pieces and wash them well in water. Then Marinate the chicken pieces with ginger garlic paste, Turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt. Allow it to marinate overnight or for about 30 minutes.

2. Cut onions thinly and fry them to golden brown, remove it from oil. Then grind fried onions and cashews and keep it aside.

3. To the remaining oil, add the marinated chicken pieces. Saute the pieces well in oil in low flame. After 5 minutes add Kashmiri Red chilli powder and mix well. Beat the yoghurt nicely and add it to the pot. Then add the ground onion paste and stir well. Add chat masala powder and garam masala powder. Check for salt and add if required. Add water as required and cook until the oil starts to appear at top. Then switch off the flame.

Chicken masala is ready.

Serve with Rice, pulao, Roti, Parotta or Naan.
