Simple pulao – Plain pulao

This pulao is a simple one made with basmati rice, whole spices, and Maggi stock cubes. Maggi cubes add a nice flavor and taste to the pulao. I made it today along with Khatti dal and achari paneer. It’s so easy to make and the best pulao recipe for bachelors and newbies to cooking. you can also pair it with a spicy gravy or korma. I used a vegetable Maggi stock cube, you can use the stock cube of your choice.

Serves : 4

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED

Oil – 2 tbsp

Cinnamon pieces – 2

Cardamom -4

Cloves – 4

Star anise – 1

Maze – 1

Shahi Jeera – 1 tsp

Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp

Peppercorns – 1/2 tsp

Onion – 1 (sliced)

Green chillies – 3

Tomato – 1 (sliced)

Maggi stock cube – 1

Basmati rice – 1.5 cups

Water – 3 cups

Salt to taste

METHOD

  1. Wash Basmati rice well in water and soak it in water for about 30 minutes . Then drain the water completely and keep it ready.

2. Heat oil in a pan, add all the whole spices mentioned above. Let them splutter. Then add sliced onions, a little salt, and fry until the onions get lightly golden. Add sliced tomatoes, green chilies to it. Saute it for 2 minutes, until the tomatoes get mushy, add the cube to it. Mix well.

3. Add the soaked and drained rice to it. Add the water into it. Place in high flame and bring it to boil. When it has come to a nice boil. place the flame in low flame, cover, and cook for 10 mins. Then switch off the flame. Open the lid after 10 mins.

Pulao is ready.

Serve hot with tomato chutney, dal, chicken or mutton korma.
