
I post recipes which I usually cook at home which are simple and which can be prepared at home with ingredients which are available. This gravy is made with bottle gourd(surakkai) and it goes well with Chapathi, Rice.

Serves – 3
INGREDIENTS REQUIRED
Oil – 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1/4 tsp
Urad dal – 1 tsp
Dried red chillies – 2
Onion – 1 (medium-sized ,chopped)
Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
Tomato – 1(small-sized, chopped)
Green Chilli – 1 (chopped)
Bottle gourd – 1 (small size, chopped)
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp to 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp
Garam masala – 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves – a few
Salt to taste
METHOD
Heat oil in a pan. When the oil is hot, add mustard seeds. let them splutter. Add cumin seeds, urad dal. Then add chopped onions, dried red chillies. Saute them well until the onions turn translucent. Then add ginger garlic paste . Saute until the raw smell goes off. Add chopped tomatoes. Saute them, cook until the tomatoes get mushy. Add chopped bottle gourd, curry leaves , turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, salt and garam masala to it. Mix well. Add water to it. Cover and cook in low flame until the bottle gourd gets soft.

Serve hot with Chapathi or Rice and dal.
